We would like to introduce you to our coaches!

Welcome back, wrestlers!

Coach Ken Arend - Coach Ken was a standout high school wrestler in Illinois (back where they only have a "state" not "states" tournament) :) He wrestled in the Big Ten in college and got to travel a bit and competed internationally in Freestyle & Greco.  Coach Ken has coached at every level and enjoys working with kids! This is Coach Ken's last year, as his son Kyle is finishing up his last year in the youth program.  Thanks, Coach Ken!!

Coach Steve Chrisman - Coach Chrisman was a standout high school wrestler down in Florida, played football and wrestled in college "up north" in Ohio and has coached wrestlers at a number of different levels. Coach Chrisman has three little wrestlers and we look forward to watching them grow in the Medina Youth Wrestling program!  You can always spot Coach Chrisman by his favorite bright yellow wrestling shoes!!  Thanks, Coach Chrisman!!

Coach Mike DeFraine - Coach Mike wrestled for Olmsted Falls (we've even seen his name on some of their T-shirts!) and followed that up with some time in the Marines!  Coach Mike has been with Medina Youth Wrestling for five years with sons Zack, Alex and Nick following in Dad's footsteps!  Thanks, Coach Mike!

Coach Chad Gilmore - Coach Gilmore is a former Wadsworth wrestler and is now a teacher in the Medina school district and the Medina High School head wrestling coach - we'd like to thank Coach Gilmore for his support over the past few years and congratulate him on becoming a new daddy this year!! Thanks again, Coach Gilmore!

Coach Cory McGhee - This is Coach Cory's third year with Medina Youth Wrestling.  Although his kids are w-a-a-a-y too little to wrestle for us, he continues to coach and share his knowledge and love for the sport! Thanks Coach Cory!!

Coach Mike Priebe - Coach Mike was one of Holy Name High School's toughest wrestlers during the 80's!  His son Zack is definitely following in his footsteps and daughter Haley isn't far behind!  He has been a longstanding coach and supporter of Medina Youth Wrestling!!  Thanks, Coach Mike!!

Coach Pat Renaud is another longstanding coach for Medina Youth Wrestling and rarely misses a practice!  You can find Coach Pat underneath a pile of 50 pounders because besides helping on the mats, he finds time to play with all the little brothers & sisters on the sidelines!  This is Coach Pat's last season, as son Austin is one of our graduating 6th graders! Thanks Coach Pat!

Coach Mike Gandolf - Coach Mike was a Strongsville wrestler and can always be counted on for his positive encouragement and sense of humor.  With two sons in the program, we look forward to Coach Mike's continued leadership in the program!  Thanks Coach Mike!

Coach Ray Gordon - Coach Ray brings his expertise as conditioning coach to the table!  We're sure our wrestlers will remember the first day of wrestling practice for a L-O-N-G time!  As son Sean has a few more years in the program, we look forward to Coach Ray's continued direction - (but maybe not as many squats!!!)  : o)

Coach Gary Bell - Coach Gary has been with Medina Youth Wrestling for several years and models hard work and discipline.  Son, Nick, can always be found with a smile on his face and we're thankful for the contributions Coach Gary continues to make!  Thanks Coach Gary!!

Coach Joe Conrad - Coach Joe joined the coaching staff this year and although he has no kids in the program, has spent a number of hours coaching every one elses!  Thanks Coach Joe!!

******************************************

Between all of our coaches, there are DECADES of actual wrestling and coaching experience - at all levels as well.  They all enjoy the sport and take time out from their families to "give back" to the next generation of wrestlers.

We would like very much to thank all of these gentlemen for volunteering their time and expertise and their families for sharing their husbands/fathers...

A special thanks to our two soon-to-be "alumni coaches" as well as some of our most dedicated dads for the countless hours they have spent in the wrestling room and at the meets, coaching our wrestlers.
